WaterRower and NOHrD focus on sustainability in production and design

Natural materials, beautiful design and sustainable production - the products of the WaterRower and NOHrD brands are not just functional sports equipment. Visually, they are reminiscent of exclusive pieces of furniture - perfect for people who appreciate quality and love elegant design as well as natural materials. What many people don't know: The closely cooperating sports equipment manufacturers WaterRower and NOHrD produce in a particularly environmentally conscious and sustainable way and are committed to the Nordhorn site in Lower Saxony.
WaterRower and NOHrD produce handmade fitness equipment made of wood and leather, which fits perfectly into modern offices and living rooms thanks to its elegant and space-saving design. At the heart of the range is the award-winning WaterRower. The legendary rowing ergometer made of high-quality solid wood imitates the rowing motion with the help of a water tank and can be set up to save space. Whether it's a designer rope hoist or dumbbell set - the company's exclusive range includes numerous high-quality NOHrD brand sports equipment made of wood and leather. Dominik Kuprecht (46), former competitive rower and Managing Director of WaterRower GmbH and founder of the NOHrD brand, emphasizes: "Every single product shows the passion of the WaterRower and NOHrD team, who develop and manufacture the exclusive fitness equipment by hand in Nordhorn."

Products and production in harmony with nature
Dominik Kuprecht explains the corporate philosophy of the sports equipment manufacturer in Nordhorn, which is committed to environmentally conscious and sustainable production: "We handle our raw materials responsibly. Almost everything that comes from the forest is used in production. We only use solid heartwood from renewable sources. This is oiled and not varnished. The genuine leather used comes from Germany and is particularly kind to the skin thanks to the vegetable tanning process. Wood and bark are raw materials, there is no waste. Waste wood that cannot be used for production is used to generate energy in our factory, and we also produce our own electricity to run the machines."
The idea of sustainability concerns Kuprecht in many ways: "For the future, we are planning products from NOHrD that we call "Local Heros" - by this we mean products made from materials and suppliers exclusively from our region." Last but not least, he is interested in people. "In some of our production processes, we also try to employ older workers and people with physical disabilities who would otherwise have a hard time on the labor market. In my mind, all of this is a form of sportsmanship and fairness - whether in the rowing boat or in the company, the aim must be to constantly improve together. That is our motto and our company philosophy."

Company WaterRower GmbH
The WaterRower sales company was founded in 1994 by Dominik Kuprecht and is based in Nordhorn in Lower Saxony. In German-speaking countries, it is the sales office for the WaterRower, a rowing ergometer with a water tank patented by the American John Duke in 1987, which can even be seen in the Design Museum in London. Today's version of the legendary rowing machine is produced in London for the European market and in the USA for the rest of the world. The WaterRower GmbH product range also includes exclusive sports equipment from the NOHrD brand, which was also founded by Dominik Kuprecht and is manufactured in the company's own factory at its headquarters. The company also has branches in England, France, Italy, the Benelux countries, Australia and the USA.
