To strengthen the back muscles it is necessary to do training on back training equipment. This is recommendable not only for athletes but also to prevent from back problems. The number of persons with such problems increases every year, so there also is a wide range of different back training equipment available. Among them are for example the lat pull down to strain the upper back and neck, the seated row and butterfly reverse for the back and lateral muscles as well as the hyper extension bench and lower back machine for the lower back.

New or used Butterfly reverse

A butterfly reverse is a kind of back training equipment which especially strains the lats, the teres major muscle and trapezius muscle. Furthermore training on a new or used butterfly reverse supports the front and lateral deltoid muscle and the upper and lower fibres of the trapezius muscle.

New or used Hyperextension bench

A hyperextension bench strengthens the glute and back muscles. Hyperextension means in the medical sense a strong stretching of joints. There are foldable and adjustable hyperextension benches. A similar exercise with the same training aim, but without hyperextension bench or other back training equipment is called “Superman” because the athlete is in a flying position with the arms stretched forward.

New or used lat pulldown

Training on a lat pulldown strains the lats or large muscles including the trapezius muscle, deltoid muscle, rhomboid major muscle, infraspinatus muscle and biceps. As the lat pulldown is a basic strength training machine, it is suitable for beginners. The lat is pulled top down and the weight can be individually adjusted on this back training equipment.

New or used lower back machine

The lower back machine can be found in most well equipped gyms. Normally this back training equipment is adjustable to the height of the athlete and also angles are changeable. As the rolls often can be adjusted too, you can even train the abdominal muscles on this type of training equipment. Workout on a lower back machine is a basic exercise for trunk stability which is especially important for athletes and persons with spine problems. The exercise can also be done without this back training equipment, simply on benches or sitting balls.

New or used seated row

A seated row simulates the movements in a rowing boat. It can be used for endurance and strength training equally. Today seated rows and other rowing machines can be found in many gyms. Seated rows are popular among athletes who want to do endurance and strength training but especially among rowers who want to train even in winter. Training on a seated row strains arms, legs and upper body, especially back muscles. This kind of back training equipment is also suitable to lose weight. There are two types of seated rows: on some machines the hand grips have to be pulled at the same time and on some other machines the rowing can be done for each hand separately.
