The special requirements of medical circuit training naturally need a fine tuning of all equipment to each other. Here you can find out what equipment a medical training circuit contains and which exercises are typically used to get you fit and healthy (again).
The equipment of physiotherapists and osteopaths - health in focus
Training in a medical circuit (regardless of type and manufacturer) is about your health. Success is not so much measured in weight lifted, but rather in freedom from pain, increased mobility and quality of life. These values are, of course, difficult to quantify, but they do rule out some machines right away. There are no free weights in the medical circuit, instead you can expect equipment that you may also know from the back circuit.
The back is trained through various exercises, including the lat pulldown. In this device, the latissimus dorsi is activated in an upright position and thus stabilized from the entire back.
Back presses are designed specifically for the lower back. Here a stretching of your back takes place, mostly from an (approximately) horizontally fixed position. Side crunches work similarly in the machines, only here you are fixed to the side. Both types of equipment strengthen the muscles that stretch you from the lower back and accordingly relieve your spine during sports and everyday life.
Also among the preventive devices is the leg press, in which you perform a squat under optimal conditions. The fixed squat strengthens your entire body and its strengthening effect helps you with knee problems, but also with stability problems in the lower back/buttocks area.
Equipment like the Hip Machine can also be found in many medical circles, here the muscles in and around your hips are trained. This is especially true for the lower core, or lower back, and the deeper segmented abdominal muscles.
If the medical circuit has a stronger focus on your arms (for example after a fracture or joint injury), rowing machines, curls and presses can also be found in the circuits. However, the focus here is on smooth, round movements and less on your weight.
Get fit in a versatile way with circuit training
Fixed, stable, guided - how a medical circuit uses its equipment
The equipment in a medical circuit is very restrictive, unlike training with free weights. After all, the goal here is to prevent you from using momentum or compensating muscles to distort the exercises.
A medical circuit is clearly designed to build your muscles in a targeted and focused way.
