The Women in Fitness Association (WIFA) is a unique initiative that aims to bring about lasting change in the fitness industry and support women in their professional and personal development. Originally founded in the USA in 2017, WIFA has also been established in Germany since 2021 under the leadership of Maike Kumstel: "The need for a platform for women in our industry was out of the question for everyone I spoke to about it. Supporters were also quickly found who helped to build the network as multipliers. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do to ensure that the great women in our sector finally get the attention they deserve."
WIFA at FIBO: A strong network in action
The German WIFA community was well represented at this year's FIBO in Cologne, the world's largest trade fair for fitness, wellness and health. Here, many committed women took the opportunity to raise awareness of the initiative and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Wouldn't it be great if women in the fitness industry had the same career opportunities as men and there were no more "glass ceilings" and invisible barriers? This is exactly what WIFA is committed to.
Platform for exchange and support
WIFA offers a platform where women can exchange ideas, support each other and build valuable relationships. Monthly virtual network meetings and annual on-site events create numerous opportunities for this. Well-known companies such as FitX, FIBO, Holmes Place, LifeFit Group, David Lloyd Clubs, Les Mills and Urban Sports support these events and contribute to the advancement of women in the industry.
Become a member and benefit
Interested parties can register for the monthly virtual network meetings free of charge and without obligation. A special highlight is the annual meeting, which takes place this year on October 12 in Cologne. Here, participants can try out new studio concepts and share their experiences. Join the LinkedIn group to stay up to date and find out more about the events.
