The FIBO Innovation Tour took place again this year from January 28 to February 11. For the third time, FIBO and the European industry association EuropeActive jointly organized the five-day event, which made stops in the European cities of Istanbul, Moscow, Warsaw, Milan and Stockholm.
The aim was to have a lively exchange with the local fitness industry about trends, challenges and current industry figures. The five stops attracted a total of 500 visitors, including gym operators, leading gym employees, decision-makers and opinion leaders in the industry, managers, personal trainers and healthcare professionals.
Participants
In the one-day seminars, up to ten FIBO exhibitors per station presented innovations and trends in the fitness industry. These included Absorice, BURG F.W. Lüling, eGym, Escape Fitness, ELEIKO GROUP, FunXtion International, gym80 International, Magicline, Matrix Fitness, miha bodytec, Pavigym, Precor, Piloxing Academy, TECHNOGYM and Virtuagym. FIBO and EuropeActive also presented exciting topics.
This year's keynote speech was given by Ray Algar, Managing Director at Oxygen Consulting, a UK-based consultancy for market participants in the global fitness and health industry. His topic was new forms of fitness offerings and the increased expectations of consumers.
From Istanbul to Stockholm - the five stops
- Istanbul (January 28): There are 1,270 gyms in Turkey, where 1.7 million people work out. But only 2.3 percent of the population were members of a gym last year.
- Moscow (February 2): There are 2,500 gyms in Russia. So far, only 1.9 percent of the population have signed up for a membership. As in Turkey, there is great potential for growth here.
- Warsaw (February 4): 2.7 million people train in studios in Poland. The growth prospects here are also excellent.
- Stockholm (February 11): At 16.6 percent, Sweden has a very high number of people with a membership in one of the 1,300 fitness studios.
