New app from welldoo for the German RheumatismLeague is a daily companion for patients
The Berlin agency for digital health solutions welldoo has developed "Rheuma-Auszeit", the new app for the German Rheumatism League. The app is an everyday companion for people with rheumatic diseases and offers exercise instructions and practical recommendations for coping with rheumatic pain. "Rheuma-Auszeit" is available for iOS and Android. Aktion Mensch funded the project as part of the campaign "Selbstbestimmt leben, Gesellschaft verändern".
"There are already a number of apps on the subject of rheumatism that focus on documenting pain. Our aim was to provide users with concrete options so that they can actively improve their health behavior. Through user tests, we were able to develop suggestions and tips that are relevant to the everyday lives of people with rheumatism," says Inga Bergen, Managing Director of welldoo.
"Rheuma time-out" offers movement and relaxation exercises, hot and cold applications and self-massage. The user selects an area and the corresponding audio file. A voice then guides them through the movement exercises, for example, or gives instructions for an alternating bath for arms and legs. The movement exercises are also illustrated with photos. Supplementary texts provide information about the local Rheuma League services.
"Our first app aims to support those affected in everyday life and in dealing with rheumatic pain. The app can be called up at any time and is like a first aid kit and everyday companion," emphasizes Prof. Erika Gromnica-Ihle, President of the German Rheumatism League. When developing the app, welldoo involved those affected in order to design "Rheuma time-out" as closely as possible to the user. A multidisciplinary team of healthcare specialists from welldoo worked closely with the German Rheumatism League and its network of experts to implement the app.
