Company positions itself in the active ageing market for older people with acquisition

Life Fitness expands its brand and product range. With the acquisition of SCIFIT Systems by parent company Brunswick, Life Fitness has gained a comprehensive range of equipment. This gives the company even better access to the growing active ageing market for seniors. At the same time, Life Fitness is positioning itself in the medical wellness and rehabilitation segments of the industry. Chris Clawson, President of Life Fitness explains: "Life Fitness can now equip many institutions - from senior living communities to assisted living, nursing homes and care facilities to rehabilitation centers - with customized equipment."

The SCIFIT product range
SCIFIT was founded in 1987, is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and offers a comprehensive range of fitness equipment for the needs of older athletes and rehabilitation patients. The products can be customized for every age and performance level and are therefore part of the basic equipment of medically oriented facilities. SCIFIT equipment can be geared towards either a full body workout or exercises for the upper or lower body. With a low starting load, barrier-free access and built-in overload protection for endurance training, SCIFIT offers safe and user-friendly options for seniors and their trainers and therapists. The equipment is also ideal for the rehabilitation of athletes and the therapy of people with disabilities.

By joining forces with Life Fitness, SCIFIT benefits from the expertise of the Life Fitness biomechanics team, among other things. The brand will be available through Life Fitness' global retail network. "Through our distribution channels, we can deliver SCIFIT products to more than 120 countries," says Clawson. "This is a great help for aging societies around the world."
