Strength equipment for the arms in different variants
Most people think of strength training for the arms primarily in terms of dumbbells, but other equipment can also be used. Dumbbells play an important role in strength training for the arms, but numerous devices are distinguished:
- Dumbbells
- weight plates
- Barbells
- dumbbells
- dumbbellracks.
For beginners, training with dumbbells is often difficult, because it requires full commitment and concentration. They have to concentrate not only on the exercises, but additionally on the movement sequence and the correct movement of the dumbbells. The risk of injury is great, because it can quickly happen that you choose a dumbbell with too high a weight at the beginning or that the dumbbell falls out of your hand. Better suited for beginners are therefore strength machines that have pulleys. With these machines you concentrate only on lifting or pulling the load, the risk of injury is lower. All these strength machines allow many exercises for the arms, often combined with strengthening exercises for the chest muscles or shoulder muscles. A special device for training the arms is the biceps machine, which is used to strengthen the biceps.
This is the best way for beginners to train
If you would like to strengthen the arm muscles specifically, to achieve more arm strength or more strength endurance with the arms, you should seek advice in the fitness studio. Express your wishes as to which muscles you would like to train with the strength equipment, for example the upper or forearm muscles. For starters, equipment with a pulley is the most suitable. The trainer will introduce you to the use of the pulley and explain the appropriate exercises. At the beginning, you will train with a low weight, while you can repeat the exercises 8 to 15 times. Make sure that you do not perform the exercises too quickly, as this will cause you to tire quickly. Train only slowly, so you minimize the risk of injury. Many beginners record progress in terms of muscle building after only a short time. Now you can train with heavier weights. A common mistake that beginners often make when strength training through power equipment for the arms is to stretch the arms completely. This puts too much stress on the elbow joints and increases the risk of injury. The elbows must always be slightly bent.
Dumbbells for efficient training
Dumbbells are suitable for advanced exercisers and are good for strengthening arm muscles. Barbells are easier to handle because they are guided by both hands and arms. They can be loaded with different weights. Training with the barbell can be supported by a flat bench or weight bench. During the workout, you lie or sit on the bench. Instead of the barbell, you can use dumbbells, but the workout is much more difficult. Again, it comes down to keeping your elbows slightly bent and using the correct grip to avoid putting too much stress on your wrists. You should also pay attention to the correct posture of the upper body and head for an efficient workout.
