On March 10, the EGYM Congress took place at the Titanic Chaussee Hotel in Berlin. At the congress, EGYM presented the new Open Mode for Smart Strength equipment as an innovation.
With the new Open Mode for EGYM Smart Strength equipment, gym members benefit from personalized training: because now all the advantages of EGYM Strength are also available outside the circuit for the free training area. EGYM Open gives advanced users a completely new workout tailored to their needs with specially designed, motivating live feedback.
EGYM Open premiered at the completely sold-out EGYM Congress in Berlin and will be presented to the wider professional public for the first time at FIBO. Through the Open mode, experienced users now have full access to all training methods on the entire training area for the first time.
The exercisers can see live the total weight moved in the current set compared to the last training session. Interactive animations and messages encourage users to go the extra mile. Beginners are still supported by the proven user guidance, including EGYM curve. Those who do not yet have an EGYM ID can train in guest mode, without a card or wristband.
EGYM invests in research and development
In his presentation, EGYM CEO Philipp Roesch-Schlanderer emphasized the importance of motivation for members' training success. He referred to a recent McKinsey study, according to which 40% of all respondents gave fitness and wellness the highest priority in their lives.
According to the study, getting people active is not the problem. Rather, it's about improving stamina, in other words: motivation. An average fluctuation of around 30% of the studio members makes this very clear. EGYM has therefore always been strongly data-driven in order to better understand its users.
EGYM will double its research and development budget in 2022 compared to the previous year, Philipp Roesch-Schlanderer added. EGYM Chief Customer Officer Christoph Bischoff announced plans to provide customers with extensive marketing materials for member acquisition, including films produced specifically for virtual reality glasses - through to professionally made recordings in the company's own on-site studio.
EGYM launched its Fitness Hub exactly one year ago. Since then, says Christoph Bischoff, over 60,000 onboardings and more than 600,000 flexibility tests have been carried out.
As part of a customer journey, congress visitors made extensive use of the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the complete EGYM ecosystem. Correspondingly on site in Berlin were numerous partner companies, including Aidoo, DSB, Aciso, KWS, Inbody, Seca, Tanita, Matrix, Life Fitness and the Expertenallianz für Gesundheit e. V..
