Exciting lectures, surprising insights and satisfied faces: The 1. Fitness Science Congress was a complete success and generated consistently positive reactions in the industry. At the IST University the crème de la crème of fitness science had met to bring the latest research results to the man and thus to the studios. More than 150 participants, including fitness enthusiasts, sports and fitness students, trainers, scientists and physiotherapists discussed relevant fitness topics from different perspectives.
First, the renowned scientists gave presentations on four main topics "Strength training", "Endurance training"Afterwards, an exciting discussion round developed between the scientists and the auditorium. In addition, Annika Griefhahn was pleased to receive the Young Investigators Award for her master's study on the topic of "Mobility in the back".
The transfer of the latest scientific findings to the everyday life of trainers and exercisers made the congress visitors participate vividly. One of the guests was Ismail Amami, soccer coach and sports student from Frankfurt am Main: "The lecture on fascia by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Freiwald surprised me, because there are many different opinions on the subject of fasciae. topic fasciae and here some clichés were refuted. Which is also shocking, because you can see what negative effects the whole thing can have on the person training." When training his clients, Ismail now wants to take the lecture's findings into account and is glad he attended the congress.
Taking the knowledge to the studios
The idea for the Fitness Science Congress came from Prof. Dr. Stephan Geisler of the IST University of Management. His goal: to increase quality in fitness studios by sharing the latest scientific findings. "The knowledge should be passed on to those who also use it in their everyday work. This is the only way to ensure good quality training in gyms." The theoretical groundwork has been laid, and congress attendees have heard 17 speakers on current, exciting and sometimes surprising topics.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Michael Behringer, who spoke on the topic of "Mechanisms of Muscular Fatigue," sees the congress as a "shortcut": "Back then, people wrote textbooks. Then it took a very long time until the trainer actually got something out of it. That's why congresses like this are important, to get the new knowledge across and then be able to put it directly into practice."
IST University, as the organizer, is donating the profits to the "KIDsmiling Football Project." Whether there will be a 2nd Fitness Science Congress is still open. The majority of the visitors would be very pleased, because: "The level of the lectures was extremely high, the topics were extremely entertaining and the congress as a whole was really top", so the opinion unisono.
