therapie Leipzig | For three days, the Leipzig trade fair was on the move - in the truest sense of the word. A total of 16,100 [2015: 15,300] physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, doctors, sports therapists and sports scientists met at therapie Leipzig from March 16 to 18 to learn about new therapeutic approaches and products or to deepen their knowledge of old ones.
"More visitors, more exhibitors and an increase in the congress continue a success story that I think is impressive," explains Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "The signs were already pointing to success right from the start. 354 exhibitors [2015: 315], 12 percent more than at the 2015 event, underlined the industry's enthusiasm for this unique combination of trade fair and congress. With another record number of visitors, therapie Leipzig has confirmed its position as the industry leader in German-speaking countries."
This year, 3,100 [2015: 2,850] participants took advantage of the therapie Leipzig congress for professional training and further education. Participating instead of just watching was the motto in the numerous workshops and seminars, in which individual therapy methods were presented and discussed based on evidence. There was even more movement in the exhibition hall. The activity area, special shows and, last but not least, the exhibitors encouraged visitors to try out exercises and equipment for themselves.
Special highlight: Physio meets OP
On Friday morning, over 250 congress participants looked over the shoulders of the surgical team from St. Elisabeth Hospital Leipzig, led by Dr. Knoll, in Room 1. For the first time, operations at therapie Leipzig were broadcast live, including pre- and post-operative discussions. For example, the surgeon explained every step of a cruciate ligament operation during the procedure, while the audience was able to ask questions about the individual procedures. "Physio meets OP" will once again be part of the congress program at the upcoming event in 2019.
The next therapie Leipzig will take place from March 7 to 9, 2019.
