Plant-based vital substances and a balanced acid-base balance are crucial for success

Whether a workout leads to the desired success depends to a large extent on the right diet. For the fastest possible energy supply, many athletes increase their consumption of "empty" carbohydrates and hope for rapid muscle growth through animal protein. Few people are aware that this one-sided diet can be detrimental to health in the long term and can lead to hyperacidity. Anyone expecting positive results from their workout should therefore pay attention to their acid-base balance.

Avoid overacidification

Acids prevent training success. But unfortunately, many athletes generally tend to over-acidify their organism. The more intense the training, the more acids are produced by the body. Carbonic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid, keto acid and uric acid delay regeneration, corrode and weaken the tissues and lead to demineralization and overtraining. To get the "sand out of the gears," the diet must be designed to minimize acid buildup.

Alkaline excess nutrition

For an acid-base balance, the daily diet should include 80% base-surplus and neutral foods and only 20% acid-forming foods. Alkaline-surplus foods include vegetables, herbs, ripe fruit and gluten-free plants such as millet, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth and salads. Meat, sausage, fish, eggs, cheese, sweeteners, white flour products and soft drinks, on the other hand, are metabolized in excess acid.

With an alkaline-surplus nutrition nobody needs to fear to be subject to a protein deficiency: Many plants contain a concentrated load of protein power with a high biological value. In contrast to animal protein, the vegetable alternatives do not contain any negative accompanying substances such as cholesterol or antibiotics, and they do not represent an acid load for the organism. Recommended vegetable protein sources include flower pollen, lupins, soy, legumes, nuts and almonds.
Natural oils and fats are indispensable as neutral foods and as energy sources for effective training. Here, the right choice and the quality of the products are crucial. High-quality omega-3 fatty acids are essential for life and must be supplied to the body, as it cannot produce them itself. Omega-3 fatty acids are a natural health protection for heart and circulation, have a proven anti-inflammatory effect and stimulate fat burning. Valuable sources of omega-3s include cold-water fish, flaxseed or linseed, rapeseed and hemp oil.

Increase plant-based vital substance intake

Athletes have a multiple increased need for vital substances. These are important because they are an essential component of enzymatic reactions, buffering, breaking down and excreting acids. Vital substances are thus involved in energy production and deacidification processes. In addition, they are important for rapid regeneration, as they are needed for muscle building and also for building collagen fibers for tendons, ligaments and cartilage. Minerals are particularly important for a balanced acid-base balance. They support the kidneys in their excretory function and are the be-all and end-all of "fitness nutrition".
Due to their optimal bioavailability, plant-based vital substances in particular should be integrated into the daily diet, as the body can utilize them very well. A vital substance supply should be versatile. Since each plant contains only species-typical vital substances, our organism needs a wide variety, e.g. in the form of a natural plant granulate. To optimize a base-surplus diet, it contains a wide range of natural vital substances.
