Everything will be different next year - surely we've all said that to ourselves at some point. Especially on New Year's Eve and at the beginning of the year, good intentions for the new year are loudly proclaimed. As quickly as they are made, they are forgotten, because according to a study by the University of Scranton, only eight percent of people actually manage to put their resolutions into practice. We have a few tips to help you achieve them too!
Set yourself realistic goals
Stay realistic and start with small steps! Nobody goes from couch potato to marathon runner in just a few weeks. Increase slowly and the first successes will come quickly.
Make your resolutions concrete
Don't formulate vague goals, but be specific: don't say "I'm going to do sport from now on!", but "I'm going to work out on the cross trainer every Tuesday and Thursday from now on". cross trainer cross trainer every Tuesday and Thursday!" or "From now on, I will go to EMS training every Wednesday!" The more precisely you formulate your goals, the more likely you are to keep them. Tip: Keep a written record of your resolutions! A little note on the fridge, for example, gives you a sense of inner commitment and makes you feel guilty.
Everything is easier with two people
A problem shared is a problem halved - look for allies with whom you can achieve your goals! Sport is more fun with two or more people and it's easier to motivate yourself to actually go. You pull each other along and it's much easier to conquer your inner weaker self in a group.
Imagine your successes
Dream ahead! How will it feel when your favorite pants fit you again or someone says to you "You have a great figure!"? You will be happy and realize that all the work was worth it. Let your imagination run wild!
Setbacks are part of the game
Be prepared for setbacks from the outset, because they are part of the process. You are bound to lose motivation at some point along the way or become frustrated because things are not going the way you want them to. Don't be too hard on yourself and forgive yourself for small setbacks. The important thing is that you then get going again and do better next time.
Get started right away!
With these tips, nothing should go wrong with keeping your New Year's resolutions! Remember: resolutions should be started within the first 72 hours, otherwise the likelihood of you keeping them drops to one percent! The reason for this is a lack of determination, because if you are passionate and determined about something, you want to start as soon as possible and not wait a few days.
According to a nationwide representative population survey conducted by the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit and carried out by Forsa, "move more/do more sport" was ranked third among the resolutions for 2017. Take this resolution to heart and get yourself some fitness equipment for your home. You can buy new and used fitness equipment at fitnessmarkt.de!
