4 Ratings

An ergometer is the ideal device to complete a dosed cardiovascular workout. Especially bicycle ergometers are recommended for two groups of people. Some are the lovers of cycling and others prefer the cross trainer for home. For those who do not want to give up their bike, there is the sporty version, which is the racing ergometer, which is a complete racing bike with click pedals, racing saddle and an optimal seating position, all those who are only concerned about their health, will choose the classic model of an ergometer.

It should be quiet
The motion sequence of this fitness equipment should be as good as noiseless. Therefore, when buying, make sure that the ergometer should have a closed ball bearing. Also, high-quality bearings do not require grease and it also lasts a good 100,000 kilometers. A cheap one is coated with Teflon and has a plastic guide as a bottom bracket bearing, everyone can think that such a fitness equipment does not last long.

Safety is important
When buying an ergometer is still to make sure that a TÜV or GS sign is on the device, without these signs it can quickly come to fatigue. The good fitness equipment of this type has a safety freewheel, which means that the pedals do not continue to turn when you stop pedaling.

Of course, the control element should also be up to standard, clarity is an absolute must here. During training, all important functions of an ergometer must be easy to operate. Here, large buttons have proven themselves, the controls must be understandable, clearly arranged and tidy. This saves the user from having to look at the operating instructions all the time.
With an ergometer, it is also important to ensure that it has a pulse meter. The pulse must be measured, because otherwise it can even be dangerous. Ear clips or hand pulse meters are not so innovative, because the ear clip can slip and with a hand pulse meter, the hands must always remain on the device.

What types are there
The most sold are the bicycle ergometers. With such a training device, all settings can be made conveniently at the touch of a button, and in addition, many training programs provide variable variety. Then there is the rowing ergometer, with which the movement is simulated as in a rowing boat, not to forget the crosstrainer ergometer, with which one can train the lower and upper body equally by the movement of the arms and the legs.
When buying should only take a device that has pulse sensors. In these models, the pulse range is displayed, whether for fat burning or endurance.

In a really high-quality ergometer, however, there are other functions in addition to the time and resistance settings. There are usually various training programs as well as an accurate display of the current pulse rate. From this, the exact calorie consumption can then be calculated with an indication of weight, age and height.

Ergometers have a registered name, so the buyer can be sure that he has bought a device with tested quality features. Unlike classic exercise bikes, ergometers work by means of a coil system. The more voltage is put into the coil by power, the higher the resistance will be. Thus, the exact power is always achieved, which the data in the training computer shows.

The cost of a good ergometer
An ergometer intended for recreational use can be purchased from 400 euros and up, but the price range is quite higher. These fitness machines are available for purchase up to 2000 euros. These very expensive devices are nevertheless rather something for achievement sportsmen the exact training results need.
So an ergometer should always consist of a stable mechanics and have an easy operability. Ergometers are something for those who suffer from joint problems and so an ergometer can be used in the context of physiotherapeutic measures.
