Manuel Joch got into fitness at 16 and knew right away that he wanted to stay here professionally, too. People at the strength- and endurance training and nutritional issues was his declared goal. That was the beginning of an exciting career.
At the age of 17, he decided to train as a sports and health trainer/sports and fitness business administrator at the IST Study Institute. "I became aware of IST through a buddy who had already completed this training. He raved about it to me and I was immediately hooked. I additionally informed myself about other vocational trainers, but the IST convinced me with its interesting classroom phases and intensive learning opportunities in practice."
He completed his training at Bodystreet Regensburg, where he taught the EMS training got to know. The young man was enthusiastic about this training method, as he could literally watch what people could achieve in such a short time.
As early as his second year of training, Joch took on the role of studio manager. This position gave him insight into many areas of studio management and set a new goal for himself. "My dream has always been to turn my hobby into a profession. In my role as studio manager, I recognized so many things that could be improved. That's why, together with my colleague, I developed a new EMS/personal training concept that was unique in Regensburg. It was very important to us to work effectively, individually and uniquely with the customer. We turned EMS training into a holistic workout with dynamics, fun and variety."
The idea of becoming self-employed after the end of the training was born, and Joch kept this goal firmly in mind.
Immediately following his successful final exam in 2016, the young man went on a tour of Germany. "I looked at quite a few studios all over Germany, got quotes for training equipment and looked for real estate." Successfully. On November 11 of the same year, Joch opened his first own gym with his friend and business partner Johannes Krolovitsch. He was just 20 years old at the time.
"The demand for our training concept was immediately so high that we decided quite early on to open another studio in Regensburg. This one opens in May," Joch explains the situation.
For the young man, every day revolves around sports 24 hours a day. "I love it! By becoming self-employed, I was able to fulfill a childhood dream," Joch reports, beaming. "My workday is very diverse; I continue to be on the training floor with customers, write nutrition plans, meet with business partners and take care of a lot of business management issues myself. Often, a day like that goes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.. After that, I usually still train myself to stay in shape."
The team of young entrepreneurs is growing and now totals six employees. Since the beginning of April, Joch and Krolovitsch have even been training and have taken on their first apprentice.
"The IHK exam to become a sports and fitness merchant is the icing on the cake for IST's further education. The public law qualification is important for the professional future and I recommend every trainee to take it as well."
Manuel Joch, however, is apparently not at full capacity with the opening of the new studio and the management of the already established club. He is working flat out on a new licensing system that he wants to set up with his equipment manufacturer.
