How often should I train? What should I train? What heart rate is good for me? Should I do more Cardio- or strength training do? When you go to the gym for the first time, many questions come up. However, thanks to the medical history, an ideal training program can be developed together with the fitness trainer. Every trainee has different requirements and an individual training plan that takes into account their strengths and weaknesses is extremely important.
What does anamnesis mean?
The word "anamnesis" comes from the Greek and means "recollection". It is a type of interview between two people, for example, doctor and patient or fitness trainer and member. A conversation about a person's physical condition. The goal is to find out and understand complaints and information about the person and their daily life. This includes, among other things, any previous or current illnesses, professional activity and psychological or social background. The hobbies and previous athletic experience are also queried. This enables doctors and trainers to assess the person accurately and plan the next steps perfectly.
Why do I need a medical history in the gym?
The anamnesis is from the fitness studio is unimaginable without it. The profession of the classic fitness trainer is changing as a result. Accompanying during the training and writing a training plan are not enough anymore. In order to provide members with the best possible training, a trainer must know what each individual member needs for his or her workout. The anamnesis is the perfect tool for this. By interviewing the member, the trainer can get an initial overview of weaknesses and strengths. As a supplement, a full body measurement is often taken. Companies like InBody or Tanita for example, have specialized in this area and provide with their body composition scales the right equipment. Here, various parameters, including weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass and blood pressure, are measured and analyzed. With the help of the collected information, fitness trainer and member can work out an individual training program together. This health check should be repeated at regular intervals and the training adapted accordingly. Training performance is thus checked, improved and documented. Anamnesis thus creates the best conditions for successful and health-oriented training.
Health-oriented training is the future
At FIBO 2018, there was the anamnesis course for the first time. Manufacturers and distributors had the chance here to present their latest equipment and options from this area. From six different categories, the latest trends were presented and made available for testing. Stephan Müller is the managing director of GluckerKolleg, which offers various training and further education courses in the field of fitness trainers. Among other things here EMS coach, personal trainers and nutritionists are trained. He has written a book "Anamnese, the 1st step into the 2nd health market" about the anamnesis course at FIBO. This is the first time a book has been published about a FIBO event.
The growth of the 2nd health market
The 2nd health market includes all health-related products and services that are not the subject of statutory health insurance or financed by taxes. Gym history shows that this area continues to grow. Members don't just want to work out, they want to specifically improve their health. There is nothing standing in the way of the continued growth of this health field. People want to take more care of themselves and are willing to invest in their health.
Members' perception of their health is growing, and with it the importance of medical history is increasing. Fitness studios should take care to create the right framework conditions for high-quality consultation. Training for employees, suitable equipment and accurate documentation are important points. Employees must be competent contacts for new customers, but also be able to react correctly to changes in the circumstances of already regular members.
The anamnesis has a large meaning for all involved ones in the Fitnessstudio and will be also in the future an important factor for the health-oriented Fitnessstudios.
